La Escuela Kennedy de North Bergen participa en S.T.E.M. Showcase en Trenton

.                   6th grade students from Heather Ricco’s science class at North Bergen’s John F. Kennedy School took part in last week’s S.T.E.M. Showcase at the State House in Trenton.  They were among the youngest students across New Jersey recognized for their work in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Kennedy School houses North Bergen’s S.T.E.A.M. Academy, the elementary equivalent to North Bergen High School’s S.T.E.M. Academy.  Mrs. Ricco’s class project centered around chromatography, separation of colors, strawberries and DNA. The sixth graders were among the youngest students to take part in the showcase.

Among the legislators visiting the showcase were Assemblyman Pedro Mejia and Senator Nicholas Sacco.  All of the legislators who attended, according to Mrs. Ricco, had the same reaction; “These are 11 year olds?’  Needless to say, they were quite impressed with the work these 6th grade students are doing in the S.T.E.A.M. program.

The career paths available to students going through S.T.E.M. education programs are endless.
