“At 2:54am today, Bayonne Fire Department was dispatched to 29 West 46th Street on a report of a structure fire. Arriving companies found heavy fire conditions in the first floor of the two-family, three story home. Firefighters used two handlines to extinguish the blaze, which was brought under control at 3:18am. Two occupants were treated by McCabe EMS at the scene for minor smoke inhalation. A fire investigation is underway, however, the fire appears to be accidental in nature.
Seven occupants are temporarily displaced and under the care of the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross. Occupants of the adjacent homes were briefly evacuated as a precaution.
Our firefighters swift action contained this fire to the original fire building and prevented further spread within the structure and to nearby homes.”
