Photo Credit: newyork.cbslocal.com Black ice most certainly played a major part in this morning’s crash on Route 3 westbound in East Rutherford. Icy rain overnight brought hazardous driving conditions throughout the Hudson County region, with police departments responding to multiple incidents.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit, the East Rutherford Police Department and the Secaucus Police Department, the Route 3 accident near Route 120 took place around 6:30. It left one person dead. Police have yet to release details of the fatal crash.
Traffic was backed up for hours on Route 3 into Secaucus as police conducted a thorough investigation.
Weather forecasters say Hudson County could be in for its first significant snowfall of the season overnight Thursday into Friday morning.
