Operating Vehicle With Stolen Plates Leads To Arrest Of Bayonne Man

51-year old Michael F. Stisi of Avenue F in Bayonne has been arrested for operating a vehicle with stolen license plates.  According to Captain Eric Amato, Stisi was apprehended on Friday at 3:42 p.m. near 23rd Street and Broadway.

An officer on patrol was alerted to the vehicle Stisi was operating as having stolen license plates displayed.  The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop to investigate the stolen plates, which he confirmed were reported stolen out of Jersey City on May 25.  According to Captain Amato,  Stisi was unable to offer a valid reason for possessing the stolen plates and he was placed under arrest for receiving stolen property.                                                                                                                                                                                                In addition, a search led to the recovery of heroin from Stisi’s person.  It was also learned that Stisi was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Kearny.

Stisi was taken to the Hudson County Jail in Kearny, charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, heroin, and being wanted on the outstanding warrant.

Bayonne Police are also investigating a residential breaking and entering just five minutes following Stisi’s arrest. It occurred on the 500 block of Avenue A.  No weapon was used in that incident.
