Renovation of North Bergen's Braddock Park Baseball Field Nearing Completion

The County of Hudson is nearing completion on the total renovation of the James J. Braddock Park baseball field located next to the racquetball / handball court in North Bergen.  The $1.5 million dollar project, which began in the spring, is being totally paid for by the County.  No Green Acres funding is being used.

Freeholder Chairman Anthony Vainieri told Hudson TV this morning, that the construction has caused some rainwater runoff onto the racquetball / handball court, because of the work and the heavy rains the region has experienced in recent weeks.  He said the ground, which currently slopes down away from the field toward the fencing surrounding the courts, will be graded flat as the construction nears completion.

Vainieri said the baseball field is getting a complete makeover.  The artificial turf infield has been installed already.  The outfield will be natural grass.  An underground irrigation system is being installed so the field and the adjacent courts do not flood once the work is completed, which the Freeholder Chairman expects by the end of September.

In addition, all new, energy efficient lighting has replaced the former lighting.

Vainieri asks the public to be patient as the construction crews finish the job, saying, “any concerns the public has are being addressed, but if anyone would like to inquire about the project, they should feel free to contact the County.”
