Bayonne Resumes Residential Parking Zone Enforcement on Monday, November 2

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the City of Bayonne will resume enforcement of residential permit parking zones on Monday, November 2.  For the first week, warnings will be issued to violators.  Beginning on Monday, November 9, summonses will be issued to violators.  Enforcement of residential parking was suspended in March 2020 during the early stage of the Coronavirus emergency.  Mayor Davis decided to resume enforcement of residential permit parking zones after receiving numerous complaints from residents who live near Light Rail stations.  Those residents have complained that Light Rail commuters from outside of their neighborhoods have taken advantage of free on-street parking on their blocks.  Commuter parking has deprived residents of parking spaces near their homes.

The Parking Utility will be emailing zone permit holders to remind them to renew their permits.  Permit holders in the Purple, Orange, Blue, and White Zones should have renewed already.  Permit holders in the Red, Yellow, and Green Zones are in the process of renewing their permits.  Red, Yellow, and Green permits for 2020 run through December 31, 2020, and will be valid through the month of January 2021.   

Enforcement of residential permit parking will take place in all permit parking zones, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., except for state and national holidays.  Those vehicles that fail to be registered for residential, business, or guest parking will be subject to penalties if they are parked in the designated zones for more than three hours.  That means parking is permitted for up to three hours for vehicles without permits during the aforementioned days and hours that the system is in effect.
