**THIS STORY CONTAINS NEW INFORMATION The City of Jersey City has informed the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management that there will be NO CLOSURE of Route 440 this weekend. The Bayonne OEM says the repair work will begin early next week.
Beginning, Monday, August 29th at 10am, Route 440 will be closed in both directions:

Northbound: Route 185 (Bayonne) to Danforth Avenue Southbound: Communipaw Avenue to Route 185 (Bayonne)
To help direct drivers during construction, variable message signs (VMS boards) will be located throughout the project footprint. JerseyCity Police will be at affected, signalized intersections. The JCMUA will also deploy flaggers to assist at necessary locations.
