A one alarm fire in a two-and-a-half story home in Bayonne was brought under control in 14 minutes with no injuries reported.
The fire at 122 West 54th Street was reported at 4:48 in the afternoon. According to Police Chief Keith Weaver, arriving companies found fire on the second floor. Firefighters used a hand line to put out the fire.
Chief Weaver stated, “A fire investigation is underway, however, the fire appears accidental in nature.”
Five tenants of the second floor apartment have been temporarily displaced. They are under the care of the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross.
Chief Weaver credited the fast work and professionalism of firefighters to keeping the fire to the room of origin.
