Sexual Assault at Jersey City Store Under Investigation By Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is investigating a sexual assault and robbery that took place inside of a Jersey City store yesterday, Wednesday, May 10.  According to Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the Jersey City Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a sexual assault at approximately 8:24 last night.

A 63-year-old woman reported that an unknown male entered a business on West Side Avenue – south of Communipaw Avenue – where he robbed and sexually assaulted her. The exact location of the assault is being withheld at this time to protect the identity of the victim and the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

The Prosecutor’s Office says this incident is actively being investigated by the Special Victims Unit (SVU) and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
