Shoplifting, Drug Possession & DUI Arrests in Bayonne

Shoplifting, drug possession and a DUI arrest highlight the past week’s police blotter in Bayonne.  According to Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato the first incident took place on July 9 at 9 0’clock in the morning.

58-year old John D. Mays of Ede Avenue in Jersey City was taken into custody at the Bayonne ShopRite for shoplifting $345.51 worth of merchandise.  Upon further investigation, police learned Mays was wanted on two arrest warrants, one from Bayonne and another from Linden.

On July 10, Captain Amato says police apprehended 33-year old Kareem M. Hector of Warner Avenue in Jersey City eleven minutes before 1 a.m. in the area of 50th Street and Broadway.  He was charged with numerous narcotics charges, including possession of heroin and marijuana, and intent to distribute.  He was issued a summons.

Also on July 10, 56-year old Joseph Bimonte of Stuart Drive in Freehold was taken into custody by Bayonne Police at 9:08 p.m. near 15th Street and Broadway.  He was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated.

Then on July 12, 53-year old Ervin V. Morris was arrested for shoplifting.  According to Captain Amato, Morris was apprehended at 5:52 p.m. at ShopRite.  He allegedly stole $190.33 in merchandise.  He is currently housed in the Hudson County Jail in Kearny.

Morris was previously arrested for shoplifting from the same supermarket and had been banned from entering the premises.  As a result, he was also charged with trespassing.
