Staten Island Man Arrested in Bayonne on Major Narcotics Possession For 2nd Time in 2 Weeks

For the second time in two weeks, Bayonne Police have arrested Walter A. Harris of 34 New Street on Staten Island for narcotics possession.  According to Police Captain Eric Amato, Harris was taken into custody at 11:18 on Monday morning from the area of 30th Street and Kennedy Boulevard.

According to Amat0, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle Harris was operating after they observed the vehicle being operated at a high rate of speed. During the motor vehicle stop, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of approximately 2.8 pounds of marijuana.

On January 13, Harris was taken into custody after being found to be in possession of approximately 1.5 pounds of marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia. On that date, he was charged with possession of marijuana (1.5 pounds), possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 500 Feet of public housing, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia with the intent to distribute.

The charges against him yesterday include the possession of marijuana (2.8 pounds), the possession of marijuana with the Intent to distribute, as well as possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 1000 Feet of a school.
