Staten Island Man Arrested in Bayonne on Weapons, Narcotics & Credit Card Theft

Bayonne Police have arrested 26-year old, Staten Island resident Steven Polanco of Gower Street for possession of a loaded handgun and various drug-related charges.  According to. Captain Eric Amato, Polanco was taken into custody last night at a minute before 10 in the area of Andrew Street and JFK Boulevard.

Amato says, while on patrol, an officer noticed a motor vehicle violation committed by a Chevrolet Cobalt.  As the officer approached the stopped car, he immediately detected the strong odor of marijuana.  While conducting his investigation with the driver, identified as Polanco, the officer recovered more than a pound of marijuana, 17 pills of prescription legend drugs, one ecstasy pill, two New York State driver’s licenses with two different names, 3 bank debit cards bearing different names, numerous Visa/Mastercard gift cards, 7 cell phones, one pocket scale, plus other pieces of narcotics paraphernalia.

Police also discovered a fully loaded, .22 caliber revolver handgun. The officer also discovered during the investigation that Polanco was classified as a certain person not to possess weapons.

A total of eleven charges have been filed against Polanco, including the unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of the weapon for an unlawful purpose; various narcotics possession charges; credit card theft and possession of fraudulent government documents.
