Stolen Vehicle Bust at Red Roof Inn: Officer’s Keen Eye Foils Criminal Activity

Secaucus, NJ – On April 24, 2023, at 7:34 A.M., a routine patrol by Secaucus Police Officer Kasey Kelly at the Red Roof Inn located at 15 Meadowland Parkway resulted in a stolen vehicle recovery and an arrest. While on patrol, Officer Kelly randomly accessed the registration of an unoccupied but running Kia Forte in the parking lot. The vehicle was reported stolen from Newark on April 23, 2023.

Upon further investigation, the driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Doniesha Coar of Glassboro, was located in one of the motel rooms and placed under arrest. A search of her jacket revealed several 9mm handgun bullets in her possession.

Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller praised Officer Kelly’s keen eye and proactive efforts, stating, “Our hotels will not be a safe haven for criminal activity to flourish. Secaucus Police Officers will continue to maintain a presence in all areas of Town in an attempt to rid out criminal activity.”

Doniesha Coar was charged with Receiving Stolen Property [2C:20-7] and Possession of Handgun Ammunition [2C:58-3.3b]. She also had outstanding warrants from Wood Ridge, Atlantic County, Garfield, and Cranford, totaling $3,250 in bail. Coar was subsequently lodged in the Hudson County Jail.
