Two People Seriously Injured In Saturday Morning Hit & Run Accident In Jersey City

An overnight hit-and-run accident in Jersey City has seriously injured two people who were riding a moped according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

According to Suarez, the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the incident that took place at approximately 12:20 a.m. on June 29, 2024.   The Jersey City Police Department was notified of a collision in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Avenue, and when responding officers arrived, they found two victims, later identified as a 36-year-old male from East Orange and a 26-year-old female from Newark, with serious injuries.

A press release from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office says the two victims were occupying a moped at the time of the collision.  Both victims were transported to Jersey City Medical Center where they are being treated for their injuries.  During the preliminary investigation, the second vehicle, which fled the scene, was identified and recovered.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this matter.
