Union City man, 33, charged with possessing child sexual abuse material after Weehawken arrest

UNION CITY — A 33-year-old Union City man has been charged with possessing child sexual abuse material after tips about suspected abuse material stored on a Google server led investigators to an account he owned, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Hudson County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Adraen Ramirez, of Union City, on Monday, Oct. 19, the Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release issued Tuesday.

Ramirez is charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child/possession of child sexual abuse material, a second-degree crime, under N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)(b)(ii). He was arrested at a residence in Weehawken and taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, according to the release.

Beginning in June 2026, the Hudson County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received multiple tips that suspected child sexual abuse material was being stored on a Google server, the Prosecutor’s Office said. The investigation found that Ramirez owned the account, according to the release.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
