Actualización: United Parcel Service Distribution Center busca hacer de Bayona su hogar

**By a vote of 8-0, the Bayonne Planning Board approved the UPS amendments at Monday night’s meeting.  Commissioner Dentaba Youssef was absent.                                                                                                                                               The Bayonne Planning is scheduled to hold a meeting tonight to approve amendments to Lincoln Equities Group’s site plan to allow for the construction of a distribution center to house the United Parcel Service as it tenant.  The site consists of approximately 150 waterfront acres having direct access to Global terminals and the New Jersey Turnpike.

The site plan, if approved, would permit LEG to construct an 880,000 square foot facility at the former Military Ocean Terminal (MOTBY).  The project is estimated to create more than one thousand jobs.  Mayor Jimmy Davis stated, “When I first became Mayor in 2014 the development of MOTBY and bringing jobs back to Bayonne were my top priorities.  This project with UPS helps me accomplish both, and is not only good for Bayonne but for the entire region.”

Senator Bob Menendez added, “This is a welcomed addition to the revitalization of the former MOTBY site and great news for Bayonne’s families.  I applaud Mayor Davis and his council for their continued leadership in attracting new, good-paying jobs and economic opportunities to the city.”

MOTBY was transferred to the city in 1999.  During the Davis Administration, a flurry of development has taken place, including residential and commercial.  Some the businesses to come to the site include COSTCO, Starbucks, and Lidl.

Bayonne Council President Sharon Ashe Nadrowski added, ‘This project is part of the City’s overall goal of promoting balanced development within our city that not only benefits the new businesses and investors but helps support the economy of the whole city.”
