Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, announced today that Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crime Stoppers program is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for a fatal hit and run incident. On Sunday, May 24, Gerald Pettiford, 61, of Newark, a pedestrian, was struck in the area of 445 Central Ave, East Orange.
He was transported to East Orange General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:40 pm on May 24.
