Memorial High School’s senior student athletes were honored on Monday night as the school recognized their accomplishments as they prepare for graduation.
Among the honorees was two sport athlete Katya Tepol, who recently was named Memorial’s NJSIAA Scholar Athlete. Tepol will be attending Rutgers in New Brunswick this September. Tepol is a basketball player and the goalkeeper for the girls’ soccer team.

A check for $1,700 was also presented to the Englewood Health Foundation, Leslie Simon Breast Cancer and Cytodiagnosis Center. Since becoming the head girls’ volleyball coach at Memorial in 2016, Daisy Santiago has raised awareness of breast cancer while collecting money for the cause. Members of the boys’ soccer team, the football cheer team and stunt team have played major roles in this fundraising effort. Since 2016, $11,900 has been donated through Santiago’s efforts.

Among the other special recognition award recipients were Edanna Franco Diaz and Mamadou Lamine Diop, who received the HCIAL Scholar Athlete Awards. Andrea Saez was awarded the 2026 DAANJ Sectional Award of Merit, while Transportation Supervisor Frank Menendez was given a plaque to recognize his years of service and dedication to the District.

On Thursday, Memorial High School will hold a pig roast bar-b-que for the graduating senior athletes.
