North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco and the Township of North Bergen have announced a major paving project that will take place on West Side Avenue between Paterson Plank Road and 83rd Street. The project is set to begin in the coming weeks and is expected to greatly improve the safety and reliability of the roadway.
Mayor Sacco expressed his excitement for the project, stating that the investment in community infrastructure is an important one. The use of state grant funding also means that costs to residents will be minimized.
West Side Avenue is not only a major industrial and commercial hub in North Bergen, but it is also one of the most heavily traveled roads. The milling of the existing roadway, repairing of any damaged areas, and application of a fresh layer of asphalt is expected to improve the safety and reliability for all who use it.
During the duration of the project, traffic will be diverted to ensure the safety of residents and workers. The project is expected to be completed by Summer 2023.
