Worker Rescued From Industrial Accident at Global Terminals in Bayonne

Tragedy was averted this morning at Global Terminals in Bayonne, as members of the Bayonne Fire Department rescued a container lift operator who was trapped inside and tipped over.   Here is the statement from Bayonne Fire Department Deputy Chief Bill Bartos regarding this morning’s industrial accident:
“At 10:44am, Bayonne Fire was dispatched to an industrial accident at Global Terminals on Port Jersey Blvd.  Arriving units found a heavy-duty container lift, used to move shipping containers, tipped over onto a stack of containers. The equipment operator was trapped inside and unable to self-extricate. Firefighters used an aerial bucket to safely remove the operator, who was removed to Bayonne Medical Center by McCabe Ambulance with apparently minor injuries.
“The quick and professional response by our firefighters led to the safe removal of this equipment operator without further injury or property damage”.
Along with McCabe Ambulance, responding agencies included the Port Authority Police Department, Bayonne Police Department, Bayonne Office of Emergency Management, and the Jersey City Fire Department.
