All this week at Washington County Park along the borders of Union City and Jersey City, a group of young girls have been participating in an environmental camp run by the YWCA of Northern New Jersey. This new initiative is being made possible by a partnership between the Y and the 4-H Club of Hudson County, part of Rutgers University Cooperative Extension. The Washington Park Association is the key sponsor for the free camp.
Approximately 20 girls from the neighborhoods surrounding the park have been learning the importance of protecting and preserving the environment through a variety of lessons taught throughout the week. On Wednesday, the girls learned about the different types of birds found in the park. They even were shown how to create bird feeders.
Hudson TV stopped by the camp to get a “bird’s eye” view of what was taking place.
