COVID-19 UPDATE 4/2/2020
Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information
related to this health emergency.Mayor Davis has informed us that two more residents, an 82-year-old male, and a 74-year-old female, have passed away from Coronavirus-related illness. Mayor Davis, once again, is expressing his deepest condolences, on behalf of our entire city, to the families of these fellow Bayonne residents.
Here are the latest stats:
NJ Residents Positive – 25,590
NJ Residents Negative – 33,520
Hudson County Residents Positive – 2,270
Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 184*
• We are listing only the current residents that are POSITIVE with COVID-19.
Numerous residents have been cleared from this list, as they have met the CDC
criteria for NO LONGER NEEDING TO ISOLATE/MONITOR. The number of
Bayonne residents that have recovered is approximately one dozen at this time.
We will continue to remove these recovered patients from our daily total.
IF YOU ARE AWAITING TEST RESULTS, PLEASE ENSURE YOUR
VOICEMAIL MAILBOX IS EMPTY. MESSAGES CANNOT BE LEFT DUE TO
IMPORTANT Testing Information: NO ONE WILL BE TESTED AT ANY SITE
UNLESS YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS. Regardless of testing location, we are not aware
of ANY testing site that will perform a test unless you are symptomatic (includes at least fever and cough). If you have these symptoms and have not been tested, ASSUME THAT YOU ARE POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS and follow your doctor’s
instructions on self-isolation and treatment. Anyone that is currently ill and
experiences a deterioration of symptoms, including difficulty breathing should call your
physician or dial 9-1-1. Due to the limited number of tests available at any site, NO
ONE WILL BE TESTED UNLESS YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS. Please do not contact
Bayonne Office of Emergency Management for testing, as we do not have the ability
to schedule anyone for testing.
TESTING OPTION: Do you need to be tested? You can call the Hudson County
COVID-19 Testing Facility (Secaucus). You will be screened and given an appointment
(no script needed). NO ONE WILL BE TESTED UNLESS YOU ARE
SYMPTOMATIC. Medical professionals continue to advise that using a test on an
asymptomatic person can give a false NEGATIVE, wasting that test kit. The numbers to call for the HC Testing Site are: 201-388-1097 or 646-862-1161. Keep in mind that
anyone that is being tested, must be symptomatic.
Bayonne Medical Center/CarePoint Testing: BMC is testing patients of CarePoint
doctors and Bayonne First Responders/Healthcare at Ahern Veterans Stadium. DO NOT
SHOW UP AT VETERANS STADIUM UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN
APPOINTMENT FOR THIS SITE. BMC is acquiring more test kits in order to expand
testing to the patients of all doctors within our community. BMC expects this expansion to occur next week. ONLY PATIENTS WITH APPOINTMENTS FOR THIS SITE
WILL BE TESTED. PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP WITHOUT AN
