Another incident involving an armed gunman played out late Thursday morning in Jersey City, but thankfully only minor injuries resulted from the encounter with 32-year old Jamel Bolden.
According to numerous media outlets, three Jersey City police officers responded to the corner of Rutgers and McAdoo Avenues at around 11:15. Responding to a request by Hudson TV, Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said the officers were following up on a WOTS (word on the street) app report of possible drug activity.
Two of the responding officers were on a nearby antiviolence walking post when they received the notification. Upon the officer’s arrival, Bolden produced a weapon and discharged the firearm. He was immediately arrested.
The three police officers suffered minor injuries during a brief struggle with Bolden and were taken to a nearby hospital. The suspect is expected to be charged with resisting arrest, among other charges.
No other information was provided by Wallace-Scalcione.
