Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that a Jersey City man has been charged with a sex crime against an 11-year old girl. Prosecutor Suarez has released the following information:
On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested 56-year old, William Dudek of Jersey City, on charges relating to a sex crime involving an 11-year-old girl. Dudek was charged with Sexual Assault by Contact, a crime of the second degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a child, a crime of the third degree.
He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first court appearance. The State has filed a detention motion, which is tentatively scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.
The crime occurred on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, before 4 p.m. on Central Avenue in Jersey City. Dudek is a stranger to the victim. Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and thanked the Jersey City Police Department for their assistance.
