Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced on Sunday morning that the male body pulled from the Hackensack River, near the eastern spur of the New Jersey Turnpike in Secaucus on Saturday afternoon, remains unidentified.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Secaucus Police Department continue to investigate.

According to Suarez. Secaucus Police were notified at approximately 12:45 pm yesterday that a body was possiblt in the river.  With assistance from the Lyndhurst and Mahwah Fire Department Underwater Recovery Units, the male body was pulled from the water.  The Secaucus, Kearny and Wallington Fire Departments also assisted.

The Hudson County Prosecutor says the body was pronounced dead just after 5:30 on Saturday afternoon.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office have yet to determine the cause and manner of death of the victim.  The New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit has been contacted to help with the identification.
