Ciattarelli conceda la carrera del gobernador de Nueva Jersey, no se realizará ningún recuento

THIS STORY CONTAINS A NEW QUOTE FROM GOVERNOR MURPHY                                                                                                                                                         With his Lieutenant Governor running mate, former State Senator Diane Allen, standing next to him, Republican Gubernatorial nominee, former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, this afternoon conceded the New Jersey Governor’s election to incumbent Democrat Phil Murphy.  The announcement came at Raritan Borough’s Municipal Building where Ciattarelli’s political career began decades ago.

Ciattarelli said, despite ballots still being counted, his campaign found no cause for a recount and found nothing to indicate the election was stolen.   The campaign had hoped since election night that enough mail-in and provisional ballots would have cut into Murphy’s lead to bring the margin to 1% or less, thereby justifying a recount.

That did not happen.

Ciattarelli did say he was proud the voters of New Jersey had cut into the Democratic Party’s hold in the State Legislature, flipping two Senate seats, including that of Senate President Steve Sweeney, and six Assembly seats.

After receiving a call from Ciattarelli telling him he was conceding the election, Governor Murphy issued the following statement:

“Hoy temprano recibí una llamada telefónica del diputado Ciattarelli felicitandonos por nuestra victoria. Agradezco al diputado de la Asamblea, a su esposa Melinda y a su familia por su vigorosa campaña y su compromiso con el servicio público.

“Esta elección no fue simplemente una elección de candidatos, sino de dirección, y la gente de Nueva Jersey ha elegido seguir adelante. Sabemos que nuestro trabajo de construir un estado más fuerte y justo no termina con estas elecciones. Y sabemos que nuestro camino hacia adelante no será fácil mientras continuamos derrotando a esta pandemia.

“Durante los próximos cuatro años, gobernaremos como hemos hecho desde el primer día – comprometidos a construir una Nueva Jersey más fuerte y más justa desde el centro hacia arriba y desde abajo. Un estado donde todos tengan una oportunidad justa y la oportunidad está ahí para todos. Seguiremos apoyando a la clase media de Nueva Jersey y a todos los que se esfuercen por llegar allí.

“También renovamos nuestra promesa a todos los neoyorquinos – los que me votaron y los que no – de seguir luchando por una Nueva Jersey que funcione para todos.

Ciattarelli says he is not going away and plans to run for Governor again in four years.
