Hoboken Detective / Lieutenant Danilo Cabrera issued the following information today on a DWI arrest, which to say the least, was a bit unusual.  31-year old, Jeffrey Masucci from Jersey City was placed under arrest at 1:20 Thursday morning at the corner of 3rd and Hudson Streets, according to Cabrera.

Shortly after 1:00 am yesterday, Officer Joshua Campoverde conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of 3rd and Hudson Streets. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Jeffrey Masucci.  Campoverde had observed Masucci driving a Jeep Cherokee the wrong way on Hudson Street, a one way street, while standing outside of Hoboken Police Headquarters.  That’s right, he illegally drove right past police headquarters in the wrong direction.

While speaking to Masucci, Officer Campoverde suspected Masucci was under the influence of an intoxicant. Shortly after, Police Officer Ricky Truppner, Police Officer Anthony Olivera, and Police Officer Harry Montalvo arrived to assess.  Campoverde put Masucci through a standardized field sobriety test and determined that Masucci was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle. Masucci was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.  At headquarters, Masucci refused to submit to chemical breath testing and charged accordingly. Masucci also received motor vehicle summonses for Reckless Driving, Wrong Way on a One Way, Unregistered Vehicle, and Failure to Exhibit Documents.  Masucci was released to a responsible party.

Cabrera says the defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
