El Distrito Escolar de East Newark se vuelve remoto el 3 de enero

East Newark Chief School Administrator, Dr. Richard Corbett announced today in a letter to parents that the district will resume instruction on Monday, January 3 virtually for all students.  The district intends to resume in-classroom instruction on January 10.

The remote decision was made due to the high number of students and staff testing positive for COVID-19.

The letter states, “In order to ensure that all students and staff have an opportunity to be tested for Covid-19, we have arranged for two mobile testing sites on January 3rd, one outside the Elementary School (501 North Third Street) and outside the Middle School (Jersey Street & Frank E. Rodgers Blvd.). These sites will provide testing from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to students and staff; other adults can test until 5:00p.m. You must pre-register by following the link provided by your classroom /homeroom teacher. All students and staff must receive a negative test result prior to returning to school on January 10.”

Dr. Corbett’s letter goes on to say, “On January 3, Covid-19 testing will take place in the morning for students and staff. Virtual / remote instruction begins at 11:00 a.m. and concludes at 3:00 p.m. For the remainder of the week (January 4 to January 7) students should log into their google classroom no later than 8:45 a.m. Classes will conclude at 3:00 p.m. Grab and Go meals may be picked up at the Elementary School Monday and Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. As a reminder, any child who has contact with a family member who has tested positive for Covid-19 must be quarantined for 10 days. This applies even if the child is asymptomatic or has tested negative. These expectations must be followed if we are to meet our goal of keeping staff and students safe.”
