FTA concede a NJ Transit $44.67M para transformar el garaje de autobuses de Union City en un sitio terminal para autobuses eléctricos

Photo Credit:  ucnj.com                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The Federal Transit Administration announced today that NJ Transit has been awarded a $44.67 million grant to transform the former bus garage on New York Avenue into a new terminal which would be compatible with electric buses.  The grant was made possible thanks to President Joe Biden’s $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure law which took effect in 2021.

The current site has been leased to Union City by NJ Transit for years in order for the city to house Department of Public Works vehicles.  Last month NJ Transit’s Board voted to demolish the site, which is in disrepair.  The new facility would be able to store 40, electric buses.

NJ Transit’s master plan says the new bus garage would cost an estimated $68.9 million.
