A 21-year old Georgia man has been arrested by Bayonne Police for unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose.

According to Lt. Eric Amato, Mikael H. Waajid of Austell, Georgia was taken into custody at 2:36 pm on Wednesday, January 29 in the area of West 49th Street following a motor vehicle stop.

Police found a loaded .22 caliber handgun, as well as a box of .22 caliber ammunition, upon a search of the vehicle. A check of the handgun determined that it had not been reported stolen.
