High School Student Charged with Sexual Crimes Against Younger Peer at Weehawken School

WEEHAWKEN, NJ – An incident has come to light as an 18-year-old woman was arrested and charged with sexual crimes involving a 13-year-old boy at Weehawken High School. Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced the arrest yesterday, July 11, 2023.

Members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) carried out the arrest, assisted by the Weehawken Police Department. The accused woman and the victim, both students at Weehawken High School, are not related.

The accused, whose identity is being withheld to protect the victim, faces several serious charges. She has been charged with Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4), a second-degree crime; Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a third-degree crime; and Criminal Sexual Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b, a fourth-degree crime.

Following her arrest at her home in Weehawken, the accused was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility where she awaits her first court appearance.

As with all criminal charges, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty as per R.P .C.3.6(b)(6).
