The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured a pedestrian operating an electric scooter last Thursday, March 16.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the incident occurred at approximately 9:55 a.m. The Jersey City Police Department was notified that a pedestrian was struck near the intersection of Brunswick Street and Christopher Columbus Drive in Jersey City. Responding police officers found an injured pedestrian at that location.
The victim, a 33-year-old Jersey City man, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries which are non-life-threatening. He is currently in stable condition.
During the preliminary investigation, Suarez says it was discovered that the victim was operating an electric scooter on Christopher Columbus Drive when it was struck by a light-colored motor vehicle making a right turn from Brunswick Street onto Christopher Columbus Drive. The vehicle did not remain at the scene.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
