Last week we learned that Jersey City was getting a major influx of federal CARES Act money, over $7 million, to assist the city’s small business community which, like many businesses across the nation, has suffered greatly from the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the City of Hoboken announced it will be hosting a press conference tomorrow morning to announce it will also be getting a major infusion of federal funds to help its small business community.
The 11:30 event will feature Senator Bob Menendez, Congressman Albio Sires, Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla, other local officials and Dr, Gaurang Brahmbhatt from Riverside Medical Group, which administers the city’s COVID-19 testing center.
With Hudson County already receiving a total of more than $117 million from the CARES Act to help businesses begin their recoveries and for COVID-19 financial relief, tomorrow’s announcement is welcome news for the Mile Square City.
The funding, expected to be in the multi-millions, will help pay for expanded coronavirus testing, meals for senior citizens, and the disinfecting of public buildings and housing.
Wednesday’s press conference will take place beneath the 14th Street viaduct, at bwe kafe, located at 1401 Adams Street.
