El tribunal del condado de Hudson dice que el dispensario inicial de cannabis medicinal de Hoboken necesita más revisión

For those people waiting for the opening of Hoboken’s initial medical cannabis dispensary, the wait will go on a bit longer.  According to Jersey Digs, which was first to report the approval of the marijuana dispensary from Secaucus-based, Harmony Dispensary, in  5,000 square feet of space at 95 Hudson Street, that had been approved by Hoboken’s Planning Board in August, 2020…well, not so fast.

Now Jersey Digs is reporting that people wanting to use the facility will have to wait longer for the pot dispensary, after a “partially successful lawsuit that was looking to void already granted approvals,” was halted by a Hudson County judge.  According to their article, dated March 31, 2021, Jersey Digs is now reporting Terrapin, based in Colorado, plans to open its own dispensary just down the block, at 86 River Street.  “The company signed a 10-year lease at the 3,500-square-foot property and partnered on the endeavor with Joseph Castelo, who co-owns Antique Bar & Bakery and Antique Loft.”

Jersey Digs reports that Terrapin filed a lawsuit maintaining Harmony never submitted the proper application to the Hoboken Medical Cannabis Review Board.  Before a cannabis dispensary can open, it must make that application.  Hudson County Judge Marybeth Rogers agreed with Terrapin last week.  The Judge, however, disagreed with Terrapin, “which was also looking to void Harmony’s Planning Board authorizations, but Rogers ruled that those approvals ‘shall remain in full effect.'”

Harmony and Terrapin are not the only companies looking to enter the medical marijuana business in Hoboken, as Jersey Digs is also reporting that “Hoboken could be getting a third dispensary at 94 River Street. Nuka Properties has teamed up with Ascend Wellness Holdings in hopes of bringing another medical cannabis store to the ground floor of 94 River Street.”
