MURDER ARREST: Jersey City Man Charged In Fatal Stabbing at Danforth Avenue Light Rail Station

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced an arrest has been made in connection to Friday night’s stabbing, and subsequent death early Saturday morning, of 49-year old, Jersey City resident Kenneth Brown at the Danforth Avenue Light Rail Station in Jersey City.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit have arrested 37-year-old, Jersey City resident Anthony Bell in connection with the fatal stabbing of Brown.

Bell is charged with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon, plus possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.  He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at approximately 1:50 p.m. this afternoon and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first court appearance.

According to Suarez, on Friday night, January 28 at approximately 11:37 p.m., police were notified of an injured person on the platform of the Danforth Avenue Light Rail Station. Responding officers found a male – later identified as Kenneth Brown, of Jersey City – with an apparent stab wound to his upper body. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:34 a.m. on Saturday, January 29.  The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
