Approximately nine hours after a suspect was arrested carrying a gun in the vicinity of the Salem Lafayette Senior Apartment complex in Jersey City late on Friday morning, another shooting took place around 8:38 that evening at 36 Union Street.
The first shooting incident resulted in no injuries according to city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace Scalcione. The same cannot be said for the evening encounter.
According to Wallace Scalcione, when Jersey City Police arrived on the scene in the Bergen Lafayette neighborhood, they found a 27-year old male with non-life threatening injuries. As of Sunday evening, the identity of the injured person has not been revealed.
Friday night’s shooting, the second of the day, was the fourth such incident to have taken place in Jersey City in eight days. Investigations into each of the incidents are continuing.
