La policía de Secaucus detiene a numerosos ladrones de tiendas

The Secaucus Police Department had a busy week from June 26th through July 2nd in terms of shoplifting crimes.  In all, four separate incidents took place which resulted in arrests.

According to Police Chief Dennis Miller, the first took place on the evening of June 29th.  At 6:18 pm, police continued an investigation relating to a shoplifting and robbery that had occurred at the Best Buy, located at 3 Mill Creek Drive on May 4, 2023.  Chief Miller says police arrested 34-year-old, Brooklyn resident Abdourahmane Seck.   It was learned that Mr. Seck had one outstanding NCIC warrant issued out of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office with no bail which stemmed from this incident.  Seck was taken into custody at Secaucus Police Headquarters after he entered the station for the purpose of turning himself in for the outstanding warrant.  He was issued his complaint warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail in Kearny.

Chief Miller says the second incident took place the following day, June 30th at 5:15 PM. Responding to T.J. Maxx, located at 3 Mill Creek Drive on a report of a shoplifting, police arrested 49-year-old, Manhattan resident Malcolm Sirmons for one outstanding warrant issued out of North Bergen in the amount of $2,500.  Sirmons was also charged with shoplifting.   Chief Miler says he was issued his complaint warrant and was taken to the Hudson County Jail.  

The third shoplifting-related arrest also occurred on June 30th.  At 11:28 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the Walmart located at 400 Park Plaza Drive on a report of a shoplifting.  During their investigation, police arrested 30-year old, Catherine Ortega of Lyndhurst for shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Ortega was also found to have one outstanding NCIC warrant issued out of Morris County with no bail.   Miller says police also arrested 27-year-old Joshua Caba of the Bronx, charging him for one outstanding NCIC warrant issued out of Bergen County with no bail.  Ortega was issued her complaint summons and detectives from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office responded to Secaucus Police Headquarters and took custody of Ortega.  Caba was taken to the Bergen County Jail. 

Finally, on July 1st at 12:53 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the T.J. Maxx on a report of shoplifting.  During the investigation, the police arrested a 48-year-old, Nelis Perez of West New York.  Perez was issued her complaint summons and she was released from police custody.
