There was no drama in Union City’s election on Tuesday, as the entire incumbent slate featuring Mayor Brian Stack and his running mates, Commissioners Wendy Grullon, Maryury Martinetti, Celin Valdivia and Lucio Fernandez ran for re-election unopposed.

In the neighboring municipality of Weehawken, where incumbent Mayor Richard Turner has been in office since 1990, only one ward was up for grabs, that being the 2nd Ward, where incumbent Councilwoman Rosemary Lavagnino chose not to seek re-election.  Turner’s running mate, Susan Morales-Jennings, a former Weehawken Board of Education Trustee, easily defeated her opponent Tina Iordamlis.

At-large incumbent Councilmen Turner and Robert Sosa, First Ward Councilwoman Carmela Silvestri-Ehret and Third Ward Councilman David Curtis all won uncontested races.
