Thursday’s Jersey City Homicide Victim Identified

The victim in Thursday morning’s Communipaw Avenue shooting fatality in Jersey City has been identified as a teenage boy.  According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the victim is 16-year old Pedro Rodriguez of Jersey City.

Shortly after 11:45 a.m. on December 16, the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of 600 Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City on a report of shots fired. The responding police officers found an unresponsive male victim at that location with an apparent gunshot wound. The injured male, who was later identified as Rodriguez, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:00 p.m.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
