Several hundred senior citizens in Union City celebrated Hispanic Heritage with a luncheon at the Colin Powell Elementary School on Saturday afternoon.
The annual event, sponsored by Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners, featured plenty of music and dancing, time with neighbors and friends, and a delicious, catered, hot meal served by members of Union City High School’s ROTC members.

Mayor Stack told those gathered in the school gymnasium that he and the Board of Commissioners are always available to address any concerns they may have, large or small. They are just a phone call away.
The annual luncheon is just one of several events taking place during Hispanic Heritage Month throughout the city.
One of those events, the annual Dominican parade, which had been scheduled for Sunday, October 11th along Bergenline Avenue, was cancelled due to the nasty, rainy weather. The parade would have marched south, starting in North Bergen and going through Guttenberg, West New York and Union City. It will not be rescheduled.
