On Friday afternoon in Union City, the PBA Local 8 joined forces with the regional fire unions to hold a Toy Parade along Bergenline Avenue.

Heading south from 49th Street. Santa’s sleigh gave out toys and candy to local children, bringing smiles to parents and youngsters alike.  The PBA was able to raise $5,500 in donations to purchase toys.  Many members of North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue donated gifts for the kids; others made financial contributions.

The officers went shopping for toys and on Friday, they held a parade down Bergenline Avenue from 49th Street.

The Target in Jersey City provided the Union City PBA with tons of candy, which was also handed out during the parade.

This was the first time the PBA Local 8 in Union City held a toy parade.  They are hoping it becomes an annual Christmas tradition in Union City.

The Secaucus Police also played a part in the parade, contributing Santa’s sleigh and reindeer.

All in all, a wonderful community event.
