In the Special Ward D Council Election in Jersey City to complete the unexpired term of the late-Councilman Michael Yun, Yousef Saleh, who was appointed to the seat with the backing of Mayor Steven Fulop following Yun’s death from COVID-19, has won tonight’s race.
The race wasn’t even close, as Saleh tallied 4,846 votes, for a 58.52 percent total. His closest opponent was Patrick Ambrossi with 1,322 votes for 15.96 percent. None of the other challengers reached 1,000 votes. A total of 8,181 votes were cast.
On the Jersey City municipal question calling for the creation of a municipal arts fund, 36,555 voted yes and 20,898 voted no.
