Joy and some tears in Union City.
During a flag raising ceremony at International Plaza in Union City on Friday afternoon, dreary skies could not dampen the spirits of those in attendance. The Board of Commissioners honored local resident Jean Zambaglione with a proclamation, recognizing her as Italian American of the Year.

Zambaglione spent 37 years as the Executive Assistant to the late CEO of the North Hudson Community Action Corporation, former Union City Commissioner Michael Leggiero. Zambaglione said Friday’s honor was very special.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the skies opened up and rain began to fall. It was at that moment you knew the former Commissioner was looking down and smiling.
