Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following, disturbing information about a 76-year old man from Union City.
On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Carlos Manzini, charging him with endangering the welfare of a child and possession of child sex abuse material, a crime of the second degree.
Manzini was arrested at a residence on 33rd Street in Union City without incident. Hw was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
According to Prosecutor Suarez, the charges stem from an investigation which revealed that on March 20, 2024, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip that child sex abuse material was being uploaded from an electronic device. Over the course of the investigation, detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office discovered hundreds of child sex abuse materials on Manzini’s computer.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Special Victims Unit, Cyber Crimes Unit and the Union City Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
The above charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
