JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has released a critical update regarding a sensitive case in Jersey City. Nestor Moreno, a 28-year-old resident of Jersey City, has been arrested and charged with a serious sex crime involving a juvenile. This case is drawing significant attention due to its disturbing nature and the age of the victim.

According to Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the Special Victims Unit of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office apprehended Moreno on Thursday, January 25, 2024. The charges stem from incidents that occurred in 2019 in Jersey City, involving a 9-year-old girl who was known to Moreno.

Moreno faces grave charges, including Sexual Assault by Contact, classified as a second-degree crime under N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a third-degree crime under N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). Following his arrest, he was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, pending his initial court appearance.
