Union City Announces Cooling Centers Due to the Impending Extreme Heat


(UNION CITY, NJ) – Due to the impending extreme heat, Mayor Brian P. Stack has announced the opening of cooling centers in Union City for residents seeking shelter from the heat and hot weather anticipated for Saturday, July 18, 2020 through Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

Cooling centers will be located at the following locations starting on July 18th through July 21st:

  • William V. Musto Center – 420 – 15th Street – 9 AM to 9 PM
  • 3700 Palisade Avenue – 9 AM to 9 PM

Residents should avoid prolonged exposure to the heat.  The City is urging the homeless to seek shelter at a cooling center and for residents to check on the elderly and pets.
