Se espera muy poco drama en las elecciones primarias del condado de Hudson el martes

The Democratic and Republican Primary Elections take place this Tuesday, June 8.  Polls will be open from 6 am until 8 pm in New Jersey.  In Hudson County there is really very little drama, as the only races to speak of that have opposition are the Republican Gubernatorial contest, where four candidates are seeking the nomination to face Democratic Governor Phil Murphy in November, and the Mayoral and Council races in Kearny.

The four Republican candidates for Governor are former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, Brian D. Levine, Hirsh V. Singh and Philip Rizzo.  Governor Murphy has no opposition on the Democratic side.

All three State Senators in Districts 31, 32 and 33, Democrats Sandra Cunningham, Nicholas Sacco and Brian Stack are running unopposed.  On the Republican side, the candidates in Districts 31, 32 and 33 are Neil A. Schulman, Juan Barbadillo and Agha Khan respectively/

As for the Assembly, all of the Democratic incumbents are running unopposed, as is newcomer William Sampson in the 31st District.  He gained the support of the HCDO instead of incumbent Nicholas Chiaravalloti.  The two Republican Assembly candidates in District 31 are Rose Javier and Brandon Vila; in District 32 they are Tamara Claudio and Marisela Rodriguez; and in the 33rd District they are Marcos Marte and Jacob Curtis.  All six are running unopposed.

In the Democratic Primary for County Register, former Freeholder Jeffrey Dublin faces Melissa F. Alexander.  On the Republican side, Walter Schneider is running unopposed.

There are also elections for State Committee representatives, both male and female in both parties.

In East Newark, two Council At Large seats are on the ballot.  There are two Democratic incumbents, Rose M. Evaristo and Kenneth J. Graham running unopposed, but no Republican candidates filed.

In Guttenberg, Democratic Mayor Wayne Zitt is running unopposed.  No Republicans filed.  There are three incumbent Democrats running unopposed for Council At Large seats, but no Republicans filed.

Finally in Kearny, Democratic Mayor Al Santos faces a challenge from Sydney J. Ferreira.  There is a Democratic challenge for a Ward 1 Council seat between incumbent Marytrine De Castro and Kristen McBrinn.  In Ward 3, Democrats Carol Jean Doyle, the incumbent, and Kristen Grimaldi face off against each other.  In Ward 4, Democrats Gerald Ficeto, the incumbent, and Stephanie Galarza face off against one another.  There is no opposition in the Democratic Primary in Kearny’s Ward 2, where incumbent Richard P. Konopka is running unopposed.

On the Republican side in Kearny, no candidates filed for any race.
